An ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the internal organs and tissues in the body. These sound waves are sent through the body and bounce off different tissues to create a picture that can be viewed on a computer screen. Ultrasound is also used by radiologists to help guide them during biopsies and catheter placement.
